Description

A melt-in-your-mouth classic cheeseburger sandwich made with ground beef, cheese, onions, and Texas toast.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced thin
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • Texas toast, thick-sliced bread

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. Sauté onions until deeply golden and fragrant.
  3. Layer each sandwich: one slice Swiss, beef, onions, one slice American, between two slices of buttered Texas toast (butter on the outside).
  4. Cook each sandwich on a griddle or pan until crispy on both sides and cheese is gooey.
  5. Slice in half and serve hot.
