Description

A fun and colorful treat, Striped Candy Apples Delight combines the classic taste of candy-coated apples with vibrant stripes of colored drizzle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Gala, or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup (180ml) light corn syrup
  • ½ cup (120ml) water
  • ½ tsp white vinegar or lemon juice
  • Gel food coloring (any color you like!)
  • 6 wooden sticks
  • ½ cup (90g) white candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening (for thinning)
  • Gel food coloring of choice (pink, mint, blue, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Wash and dry apples thoroughly — remove any wax by dipping briefly in hot water and wiping clean. Insert sticks firmly into the center of each apple. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. Make the Candy Coating: In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and vinegar. Stir over medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves. Attach a candy thermometer and cook without stirring until the temperature reaches 300°F (150°C) (hard crack stage). Remove from heat and quickly stir in your desired gel food coloring.
  3. Coat the Apples: Working quickly, tilt the saucepan slightly and dip each apple, rotating to coat evenly. Let excess drip off and place the apples upright on the prepared parchment. Allow to cool and harden completely (about 15 minutes).
  4. Add the Colorful Stripes: Melt the white candy melts or chocolate chips with coconut oil until smooth. Divide into small bowls and tint with your chosen colors. Using a piping bag or a spoon, drizzle over the apples in thin stripes. Let the drizzles set for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry before coating.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature measurement.
  • Experiment with different colors for a festive look.
