Description

A fun and delicious recipe for Strawberry & Cream Candy Apples, perfect for parties and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) light corn syrup
  • ½ cup (120ml) water
  • ½1 tsp strawberry extract (to taste)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract or cream flavoring
  • Pink gel food coloring (don’t use liquid)
  • 8 small or medium granny smith apples (washed & completely dried)
  • Paper straws or candy apple sticks
  • 1 cup freeze-dried strawberries, crushed (optional)
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips, melted (optional)
  • ½ cup crushed vanilla cookies or graham crackers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Ensure apples are fully dry and free of wax by dipping them in hot water with a splash of vinegar for 5 seconds, then drying completely.
  2. Insert sticks into the apples.
  3. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium-high heat without stirring until it reaches 300°F / 150°C.
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in strawberry extract, vanilla/cream flavor, and pink gel coloring until glossy and smooth.
  5. Tilt the pot and dip each apple slowly, turning to coat. Let excess drip back into the pot.
  6. Place dipped apples on parchment or silicone mat.
  7. For optional strawberry crunch coating, mix crushed freeze-dried strawberries with crushed cookies and dip the top of the candy apple into this mixture while the candy is still warm or sprinkle it on while wet.
  8. For the white chocolate strawberry crunch version, mix the strawberry and cookie crumble, drizzle melted white chocolate into it, and stir to form clusters before applying.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry to prevent the candy from sliding off.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature measurement.
  • Work quickly when adding flavorings and coloring to the candy mixture.
