Description

A creamy layered dessert featuring smooth vanilla custard, fresh strawberries, and rich chocolate ganache. Perfect for gatherings or special occasions, it combines freshness and decadence in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 200 g dark or milk chocolate (chopped)
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp butter (for shine)
  • 400 g fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, to macerate)
  • Chocolate sprinkles (for topping)
  • Whole or halved strawberries (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Make the Vanilla Cream: In a saucepan, heat the milk until warm. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth. Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking constantly. Return the mixture to the pan and cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened (about 3–5 minutes). Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla, and stir until silky. Let it cool slightly, then pour into the base of your serving bowl.
  2. Prepare the Strawberries: Slice strawberries and line them around the inside of the bowl (press gently against the glass for a decorative effect). Add a few slices over the custard layer. Optionally, sprinkle them lightly with sugar to release their juice.
  3. Make the Chocolate Ganache: Heat the cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Pour it over the chopped chocolate and let sit for 1 minute. Stir until smooth and glossy, then mix in butter. Let cool slightly before piping or spreading.
  4. Assemble the Layers: Start with the vanilla cream at the bottom. Add the strawberry slices around the edge and on top. Pipe or spoon the chocolate ganache decoratively over the surface. Sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles in the center. Garnish with fresh halved strawberries.
  5. Chill & Serve: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to set the layers and enhance the flavor. Serve chilled and enjoy the creamy, fruity, and chocolatey balance.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate for the ganache.
  • Ensure the custard is completely cooled before layering to prevent the strawberries from wilting.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
