Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans.
- Whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt for the chocolate cake.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk. Pour into pans and bake for 22–25 minutes. Let cool.
- Repeat the same process with the vanilla cake ingredients and bake for 20–22 minutes. Let cool.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Add strawberry puree and food coloring, then whip to stiff peaks.
- Assemble the cake by placing one chocolate layer as the base. Spread a layer of strawberry cream and add sliced strawberries.
- Place one vanilla cake layer on top and repeat with strawberry cream and strawberries. Continue layering until all layers are stacked.
- Frost the outside with pink strawberry cream.
- Top with whole fresh strawberries and chill for 1–2 hours before slicing for clean layers.
