Description

A fun and spooky recipe for brownies topped with candy eyeballs and a blood-like jam, perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g (7 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
  • 120 g (½ cup) unsalted butter
  • 200 g (1 cup) sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g (¾ cup) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 150 g (5 oz) white chocolate, melted (or white candy melts)
  • 100 g (½ cup) red strawberry or raspberry jam (for “blood”)
  • Candy eyeballs (store-bought) or homemade
  • White fondant or marshmallows (for homemade eyeballs)
  • Black and red edible food coloring (or mini chocolate chips for pupils)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter together until smooth.
  3. Stir in sugar, then add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Fold in flour, cocoa, and salt until just combined.
  5. Spread batter into pan and bake for 20–25 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. Melt white chocolate and spread evenly over cooled brownies. Let set until firm (refrigerate for 15 minutes).
  7. Drizzle red jam (or red icing) in random streaks to look like “blood.”
  8. Place candy eyeballs on top while jam is still sticky so they adhere.
  9. If making your own eyeballs: shape white fondant into small balls, dot with black/red food coloring or a mini chocolate chip for pupils.
  10. Cut brownies into squares and serve. For extra gore, let jam drip down the sides before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with other spooky decorations.
