Description

Deliciously fudgy brownies topped with a rich ganache and decorated with a spooky spiderweb design, perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter
  • 8 oz (225 g) semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (170 g) chocolate chunks or chips (optional for extra fudginess)
  • 1 cup (170 g) semisweet chocolate chips (for ganache)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream (for ganache)
  • ½ cup (60 g) white chocolate, melted (for decoration)
  • Plastic spider toppers or fondant spiders (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter and semisweet chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (or microwave in 30-sec bursts). Stir until smooth.
  3. Whisk in granulated sugar and brown sugar.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla.
  5. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold into the chocolate mixture.
  6. Stir in chocolate chunks if using.
  7. Pour into prepared pan and bake 28–32 minutes, until just set (do not overbake — they should be fudgy). Cool completely.
  8. Heat heavy cream until steaming, then pour over chocolate chips.
  9. Let sit 1 minute, then stir until glossy and smooth.
  10. Spread evenly over cooled brownies.
  11. Fill a piping bag (or zip-top bag with corner snipped) with melted white chocolate.
  12. Pipe 3–4 concentric circles on top of the ganache.
  13. Drag a toothpick from the center outward to create a web pattern.
  14. Add plastic or fondant spiders on top for a creepy finish.

Notes

  • Ensure the brownies are completely cooled before adding the ganache for the best texture.
  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate for the ganache.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
