Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter
- 8 oz (225 g) semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (170 g) chocolate chunks or chips (optional for extra fudginess)
- 1 cup (170 g) semisweet chocolate chips (for ganache)
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream (for ganache)
- ½ cup (60 g) white chocolate, melted (for decoration)
- Plastic spider toppers or fondant spiders (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Melt butter and semisweet chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (or microwave in 30-sec bursts). Stir until smooth.
- Whisk in granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla.
- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold into the chocolate mixture.
- Stir in chocolate chunks if using.
- Pour into prepared pan and bake 28–32 minutes, until just set (do not overbake — they should be fudgy). Cool completely.
- Heat heavy cream until steaming, then pour over chocolate chips.
- Let sit 1 minute, then stir until glossy and smooth.
- Spread evenly over cooled brownies.
- Fill a piping bag (or zip-top bag with corner snipped) with melted white chocolate.
- Pipe 3–4 concentric circles on top of the ganache.
- Drag a toothpick from the center outward to create a web pattern.
- Add plastic or fondant spiders on top for a creepy finish.
Notes
- Ensure the brownies are completely cooled before adding the ganache for the best texture.
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate for the ganache.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
