Description

A cheesy and hearty Sloppy Joe Bubble-Up Bake that combines the flavors of Sloppy Joes with fluffy biscuit bites, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef – 1 lb (450 g)
  • Yellow onion – 1 small, chopped
  • Green bell pepper – ½ cup, diced
  • Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato sauce – 1 (15-oz) can
  • Ketchup – ½ cup
  • Brown sugar – 1 tablespoon
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt & black pepper – to taste
  • Refrigerated biscuits – 1 can (8 count), each cut into quarters
  • Shredded cheddar cheese – 2 cups
  • Shredded mozzarella – ½ cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion, bell pepper, and garlic.
  3. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  5. Stir biscuit pieces into the beef mixture until evenly coated.
  6. Transfer to the baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella evenly on top.
  9. Bake 10–12 more minutes until the biscuits are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Rest 5 minutes before serving — this helps the sauce thicken slightly.

Notes

  • This dish can be prepped ahead of time and baked later.
  • Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the beef mixture.
