A cheesy and hearty Sloppy Joe Bubble-Up Bake that combines the flavors of Sloppy Joes with fluffy biscuit bites, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- Ground beef – 1 lb (450 g)
- Yellow onion – 1 small, chopped
- Green bell pepper – ½ cup, diced
- Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
- Tomato sauce – 1 (15-oz) can
- Ketchup – ½ cup
- Brown sugar – 1 tablespoon
- Worcestershire sauce – 1 tablespoon
- Mustard – 1 teaspoon
- Salt & black pepper – to taste
- Refrigerated biscuits – 1 can (8 count), each cut into quarters
- Shredded cheddar cheese – 2 cups
- Shredded mozzarella – ½ cup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion, bell pepper, and garlic.
- Drain excess fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Stir biscuit pieces into the beef mixture until evenly coated.
- Transfer to the baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
- Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella evenly on top.
- Bake 10–12 more minutes until the biscuits are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Rest 5 minutes before serving — this helps the sauce thicken slightly.

- This dish can be prepped ahead of time and baked later.
- Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the beef mixture.
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or hot sauce.
