Description
A delightful recipe for making Royal Blue Candy Apples that are sure to impress with their vibrant color and sweet taste.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Gala work best)
- 6 decorative sticks or jeweled skewers
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- ¾ cup water
- ½ tsp clear vanilla extract (optional)
- Royal blue oil-based candy color (not gel or water-based)
- Edible pearl or shimmer dust (optional for metallic shine)
Instructions
- In a heavy-bottom saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water.
- Heat over medium-high, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Once boiling, stop stirring and allow it to reach 300°F (150°C) — the hard-crack stage.
- Remove from heat immediately.
- Carefully stir in royal blue candy color and vanilla extract if desired. Mix gently until even.
- Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax (use warm water with a splash of vinegar).
- Dry completely and insert jeweled or decorative sticks firmly into the center.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- Tilt the pan slightly and dip each apple into the syrup, coating evenly.
- Rotate the apple to let excess syrup drip off.
- Set each apple on the prepared parchment and allow it to harden at room temperature.
- Once cooled, dust lightly with edible shimmer or pearl dust for that high-gloss mirror finish.
Notes
- Ensure the candy color is oil-based for the best results.
- Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature readings.
- Allow the apples to cool completely before serving.
