  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ tsp gel food coloring (multiple colors: red, blue, yellow, pink, etc.)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Candy thermometer

Instructions

  1. Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax (dip briefly in boiling water, then dry well).
  2. Insert wooden sticks firmly into the tops.
  3. Line a tray with parchment paper and lightly grease.
  4. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  5. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Do not stir—just swirl the pan occasionally.
  6. Cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla (if using).
  8. Divide candy mixture into small heatproof bowls. Tint each with a few drops of different gel food colors.
  9. Quickly drizzle colors back into one bowl (layering them without fully mixing to create swirls).
  10. Dip apples one at a time, twirling to coat evenly.
  11. Place on parchment to harden.
