Description
A delicious beef and cheese skillet made with biscuit dough and baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1½ cups biscuit or pie dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 3 large eggs
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
- Optional toppings: pickles, mustard, ketchup
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Incorporate the diced tomatoes into the skillet. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Set aside.
- Place the biscuit or pie dough into the bottom of an oven-safe skillet, pressing it up the sides to form a crust.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly over the crust.
- Pour the beef and tomato mixture over the cheese on the crust.
- Top with the remaining shredded cheese for a gooey finish.
- Lastly, pour the egg and milk mixture over everything in the skillet, ensuring even coverage.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the egg is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
