Description

Million Dollar Lasagna is the ultimate comfort food, featuring layers of rich meat sauce, creamy cheese mixture, and gooey mozzarella, perfect for family gatherings or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 lb (450 g) Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (24 oz each) marinara or tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 16 oz (450 g) ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 12 lasagna noodles (cooked according to package)
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Make the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook beef, sausage, and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add garlic, marinara sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, Parmesan, and parsley. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of noodles, then spread a layer of cheese mixture, followed by meat sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella on top.
  4. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with vegetables or lentils.
  • Letting the lasagna rest before slicing helps it hold its shape.
  • Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the meat sauce for extra flavor.
