Description

Midnight Glamour Candy Apples are a stunning treat that combines the classic candy apple with a touch of elegance, perfect for special occasions or a glamorous dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 small apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
  • 6 gold or black sticks/skewers
  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (120 ml) light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) water
  • ½ tsp black gel food coloring
  • ¼ tsp edible gold luster dust (optional for extra shimmer)
  • 1 tsp edible gold dust
  • ½ tsp vodka or clear extract (for painting)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, removing all wax residue (dip in hot water briefly, then dry completely).
  2. Insert sticks firmly into the top of each apple.
  3. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  4. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  5. Heat over medium-high without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
  6. Once at temperature, remove from heat and carefully stir in black gel food coloring until smooth and glossy.
  7. Working quickly, dip each apple into the candy mixture, twirling to coat evenly.
  8. Let excess drip off, then place on the parchment to harden completely (about 10 minutes).
  9. Mix gold dust with a touch of vodka or extract to create a paintable paste.
  10. Using a fine brush, paint elegant swirls or streaks over the black coating.
  11. Allow to dry completely before serving or packaging.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping to achieve a smooth coating.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature measurement.
  • Work quickly when coating the apples as the candy will harden fast.
  • Optional: Experiment with different colors of food coloring for unique designs.
