Description

A delicious burger featuring a savory mushroom topping, melted Swiss cheese, and served on a toasted pretzel bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 12 oz mushrooms, sliced (cremini or button)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 pretzel buns, toasted
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting)
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Mushroom Topping: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until they begin to brown. Add onions; sauté until soft and caramelized. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute. Add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until glossy and deeply browned. Turn off heat and keep warm.
  2. Shape and Cook the Burger Patties: Divide ground beef into 2 thick patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until desired doneness. Place Swiss cheese slices on top and cover the pan to melt completely.
  3. Toast the Pretzel Buns: Spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides of the buns. Toast in a skillet until golden and slightly crisp.
  4. Assemble the Burger: Place the cheesy burger patty on the bottom bun. Pile on a generous amount of the mushroom mixture. Sprinkle with fresh parsley (optional). Top with the pretzel bun crown.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the beef with a plant-based burger patty.
  • Feel free to add additional toppings like lettuce or tomato.
  • Ensure the mushrooms are cooked well for the best flavor.
