Description
A refreshing and spicy ice cream that combines the sweetness of mango with the zing of lime and a kick of chili.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 lime
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups ripe mango chunks (fresh or frozen)
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Tajín or chili-lime seasoning (for sprinkling)
- Fresh diced mango
- Lime wedges
- Optional: candied chili flakes for extra firecracker crunch
Instructions
- In a blender, puree mango, lime juice, sugar, and chili powder until smooth. Chill mixture in the fridge.
- Whisk together heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, lime zest, and salt until sugar dissolves. Chill for at least 2 hours.
- Pour chilled base into an ice cream maker and churn until soft-serve consistency. Transfer half of the ice cream to a container, swirl in half of the mango chili puree. Repeat with the remaining ice cream and puree, gently swirling with a knife for a marbled effect.
- Freeze for 4–6 hours until firm. Scoop into bowls or glasses with sugared rims for extra flair. Garnish with diced mango, Tajín, and a squeeze of lime juice.
Notes
- Adjust the chili powder to your spice preference.
- For a creamier texture, churn the ice cream longer.
- Serve immediately for a soft-serve style or freeze longer for a firmer texture.
