Description

A hearty and delicious casserole made with ground beef, cabbage, and tomatoes.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup (approx. 80g) chopped onion
  • 1 orange bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 1 head cabbage, chopped (approx. 900g-1kg)
  • 28 ounces (794g) crushed tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF (175ºC).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Season ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Stir in onion and orange bell pepper (if using) and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add cabbage and crushed tomatoes. Stir to combine. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer to a greased 9×13 casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15 more minutes. Serve.

Notes

  • This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and baked when ready to serve.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables according to your preference.
