Description

This colorful chocolate cake is perfect for any celebration!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (for colorful dots)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar until combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually combine with the dry ingredients to form a batter.
  4. Divide some batter into smaller bowls and tint with food coloring. Spoon colored batter randomly into prepared pans.
  5. Pour remaining chocolate batter over the colored dots in each pan.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for ten minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

  • For a more vibrant cake, use multiple colors of food coloring.
  • Make sure to use unsweetened cocoa powder for the best flavor.
