Ingredients

- 300 g flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 200 ml lukewarm water (more or less as needed)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Oil for deep frying
- 180 ml honey
- 60 ml water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: 1 tsp orange blossom water
- Colorful sprinkles (for topping)
- Toasted sesame seeds (for topping)
- Fresh herbs (optional, for holiday style)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix: flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the lukewarm water gradually and mix until you get a soft, sticky dough.
- Add 1 tbsp oil and knead 2–3 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and rest 45–60 minutes until doubled.
- Heat oil to 170–180°C.
- With oiled hands or two spoons, drop small balls of dough into the hot oil.
- Fry 3–4 minutes, turning until puffy, golden, and lightly crisp.
- Remove and place on paper towels.
- Warm honey + water in a saucepan.
- Add lemon juice and vanilla.
- Heat gently until syrupy (don’t boil too hard).
- While still warm, dip the fried dough balls into the honey glaze.
- Place on a serving plate, creating a festive mound.
- Sprinkle immediately with colored sprinkles, sesame, and herbs (optional for styling).

- Ensure the oil is at the right temperature to achieve the perfect fry.
- Experiment with different toppings for a personalized touch.
