Description

Delicious and glamorous candy apples coated in a golden syrup, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Gala, or Honeycrisp)
  • 6 sticks or gold paper straws
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ tsp clear vanilla extract (optional)
  • ½ tsp edible gold food coloring (gel or candy color, not water-based)
  • ½ tsp edible gold luster dust (for the shimmer)

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Heat over medium-high, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Once it begins boiling, stop stirring and let it reach 300°F (150°C) — the hard crack stage.
  4. Remove from heat and carefully stir in clear vanilla extract, gold food coloring, and a touch of edible luster dust for metallic sheen.
  5. Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax (use warm water + a bit of vinegar).
  6. Dry completely and insert your gold straws or sticks.
  7. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  8. Tilt the saucepan slightly and dip each apple in the golden syrup.
  9. Twirl to evenly coat and allow the excess to drip off.
  10. Place on parchment to set at room temperature.
  11. For extra glamour, dust lightly with more luster dust once the candy shell is firm.

Notes

  • Lightly spray edible gold glitter for a mirror finish.
  • Add a thin gold leaf accent for a luxurious touch.
  • Tie a gold ribbon around each stick for serving presentation.
