Description
Golden Beef & Onion Puff Rolls are a delicious and savory treat, perfect for any occasion. These rolls feature a flavorful filling of ground beef, onions, and spices, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup or BBQ sauce (for caramelization)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed but cold
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Make the Filling: Heat oil in a skillet. Add diced onion and cook 3–5 min until soft and lightly golden. Add garlic and cook 30 sec. Add ground beef and brown it well. Stir in Worcestershire, soy sauce, ketchup, pepper, paprika, onion powder, salt. Let it cook until the mixture becomes glossy + slightly sticky. Cool filling to room temperature (important so puff pastry doesn’t melt).
- Roll & Slice: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly flour a surface and roll out puff pastry. Spread cooled beef mixture evenly on top. Roll tightly from one long edge to form a log. Slice into 1 to 1.5 inch thick spirals.
- Bake: Place spirals cut-side up on a lined baking sheet. Brush tops with egg wash for shine. Bake 15–22 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Sprinkle parsley for a fresh finish (optional but nice).
Notes
- Ensure the filling is cooled before adding to the pastry to prevent melting.
- Adjust seasoning according to your taste preferences.
- These rolls can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking.
