Description

Delight in a sweet treat with these Frosty Wonderland Candy Apples, featuring a vibrant red candy base and a frosty blue top, perfect for festive occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) light corn syrup
  • ½ cup (120ml) water
  • ½1 tsp vanilla or cotton candy extract
  • Red gel food coloring (gel only, not liquid)
  • 1 more batch of the same candy mixture (sugar + syrup + water)
  • ½1 tsp marshmallow, vanilla, or white chocolate flavor
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • 8 small/medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Gala)
  • Striped or decorative candy apple sticks
  • Optional Sparkle Topping: Silver sugar pearls, Edible glitter dust, Sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Prep the apples by dipping them in very hot water with a splash of vinegar for 5 seconds, then dry well and buff until the skin looks dull.
  2. Insert sticks firmly into the apples.
  3. In a heavy-bottom pot, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Bring to a boil without stirring.
  4. Cook until it reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer.
  5. Remove from heat and quickly stir in red gel coloring and vanilla/cotton candy flavor.
  6. Dip apples one at a time and set on a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  7. For the frosty blue layer, repeat the cooking procedure with a new batch of candy until it reaches 300°F.
  8. Remove from heat, stir in blue gel coloring and marshmallow/vanilla extract.
  9. Tilt the pot and dip just the top half of each apple.
  10. While the blue candy is still soft, sprinkle gently with silver sugar pearls or fine sanding sugar.
  11. Let set for 15 minutes.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are wax-free for the candy to stick properly.
  • Do not press the sparkle toppings; let them fall naturally for a frosty look.
