Description
A delightful recipe for flower-shaped churros coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil (for deep frying)
- ½ cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, add flour all at once, and stir vigorously until the dough pulls away from the sides (about 1–2 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla. The dough should be smooth and pipeable.
- Transfer dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (like Wilton 1M).
- On parchment paper squares, pipe flower shapes by making 5–6 small connected petals in a circle.
- Freeze for 15–20 minutes to help them hold their shape.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry flower churros (a few at a time) until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- Roll warm churros in the mixture until coated.
- Enjoy warm with chocolate sauce, dulce de leche, or a vanilla glaze for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature for frying to achieve a crispy texture.
- Churros are best served fresh and warm.
- Experiment with different dipping sauces for variety.
