Description

A delicious and hearty Crispy Layered Cheeseburger Casserole that combines layers of beef, cheese, and crispy hash browns for a satisfying meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce (for layering)
  • 4 cups frozen shredded hash browns (thawed)
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & pepper
  • Fresh chives (chopped, for garnish)
  • Cooked bacon crumbles (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix thawed hash browns with melted butter, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Press half the mixture into a greased 9×9 baking dish to form a base. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and crispy.
  4. In a skillet, cook onion until softened. Add garlic and sauté briefly.
  5. Stir in ground beef, Worcestershire, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  6. In a bowl, combine mayo, sour cream, mustard, and half the shredded cheddar.
  7. On top of the crispy potato base, spread half of the beef mixture.
  8. Add shredded lettuce layer.
  9. Spread creamy cheese mixture.
  10. Add mozzarella and more cheddar.
  11. Repeat layers if desired, finishing with the remaining crispy hash browns on top.
  12. Sprinkle the top with remaining cheddar cheese.
  13. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  14. Top with chives and bacon crumbles.
  15. Slice into squares and serve hot.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preference.
  • For a spicier version, add jalapeños to the beef mixture.
  • This casserole can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
