Description

A delicious and creamy lasagna with a spicy twist, featuring shredded chicken, rich sauces, and layers of cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken breast, cooked & shredded
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 cups milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 912 lasagna sheets (cooked or no-boil)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the spicy chicken filling: Heat olive oil in a pan. Add onion, garlic, and red pepper, sauté until softened. Stir in shredded chicken, paprika, chili powder, cayenne, tomato sauce, and cream. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened. Season with salt & pepper.
  2. Make the creamy sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth and thickened. Stir in cream cheese, Parmesan, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. Assemble the lasagna: Spread a thin layer of creamy sauce in the bottom of a greased baking dish. Layer noodles, chicken mixture, ricotta, creamy sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and mozzarella on top.
  4. Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  5. Garnish & serve: Let rest 10 minutes before slicing. Drizzle with extra cream or ranch, sprinkle fresh herbs, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by modifying the amount of chili powder and cayenne pepper.
  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half.
  • Can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
