Description
Churro Saltine Toffee is a delightful treat that combines the crunch of saltine crackers with a rich toffee topping, finished with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- ~40 saltine crackers (1 sleeve)
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar (for topping)
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil, then arrange saltines in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until fully combined and bubbling. Boil for 3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt.
- Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the saltines, spreading gently to coat. Bake for 5–6 minutes, until bubbly.
- In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar with cinnamon. Immediately sprinkle over the hot toffee.
- Let cool completely (you can refrigerate for faster setting). Break into pieces and optionally dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Ensure the butter and sugar are fully combined before boiling.
- For a quicker cooling process, place the pan in the refrigerator.
