Description

Churro Saltine Toffee is a delightful treat that combines the crunch of saltine crackers with a rich toffee topping, finished with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ~40 saltine crackers (1 sleeve)
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar (for topping)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil, then arrange saltines in a single layer.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until fully combined and bubbling. Boil for 3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt.
  3. Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the saltines, spreading gently to coat. Bake for 5–6 minutes, until bubbly.
  4. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar with cinnamon. Immediately sprinkle over the hot toffee.
  5. Let cool completely (you can refrigerate for faster setting). Break into pieces and optionally dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter and sugar are fully combined before boiling.
  • For a quicker cooling process, place the pan in the refrigerator.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
