Description
Flaky puff-pastry cinnamon rolls shaped like Christmas trees, baked until golden, then drizzled with sweet vanilla glaze and holiday sprinkles.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry (store-bought or homemade), thawed
- 50 g melted butter
- 100 g brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk (or cream)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Christmas sprinkles (nonpareils — colorful tiny balls)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla to prepare the cinnamon filling. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 190°C. Unroll one puff pastry sheet and brush it evenly with the cinnamon filling mixture. Place the second pastry sheet on top and press lightly to stick.
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into triangular strips, making long triangle shapes about 6–7 cm wide at the base. Starting from the base, fold or roll upward into a Christmas tree shape (spiral layering). Place each spiral tree on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, until puffed, golden and caramelized. Let cool for 5 minutes before glazing.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze. Adjust thickness with more milk (for thin drizzle) or sugar (for thick drizzle).
- Drizzle generously over warm pastries and add Christmas sprinkles immediately so they stick.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before use for best results.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar according to your taste.
- These pastries are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a day or two.
