Description
Flaky, buttery pastry spirals coated in caramelized sugar, baked until golden and crisp with just the right amount of sweetness. A perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or dessert!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought, thawed) or homemade brioche dough
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional, for warmth)
- Pinch of salt
- Extra coarse sugar or flaky sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out puff pastry (or brioche dough) into a rectangle, about ¼-inch thick. Brush with melted butter.
- In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Sprinkle evenly over buttered dough.
- Roll dough tightly from the long edge into a log. Slice into 1–1.5 inch thick rounds.
- Arrange swirls on the baking sheet, leaving space between each. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden and caramelized on the edges.
- Sprinkle with coarse sugar or flaky sea salt while warm for extra crunch. Serve fresh.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use homemade brioche dough instead of puff pastry.
- Adjust the amount of cinnamon based on your preference.
- These buns are best served warm for optimal texture and flavor.
