Description

Creepy yet delicious cakesicles made with rich red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting, coated in white chocolate, and finished with dramatic “blood” splatters of red candy drizzle. Perfect for Halloween parties, trick-or-treat tables, or spooky dessert spreads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box red velvet cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 400 g (14 oz) white candy melts or white chocolate
  • 2 tbsp vegetable shortening or coconut oil (for smooth coating)
  • ½ cup red candy melts (or white melts + red food coloring oil-based)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (for thinning)

Instructions

  1. Prepare red velvet cake according to package directions.
  2. Let cool completely, then crumble into fine crumbs.
  3. Mix with cream cheese frosting until dough-like consistency forms.
  4. Press mixture firmly into cakesicle molds, inserting sticks.
  5. Freeze for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  6. Melt white candy melts with shortening until smooth.
  7. Dip or spoon over each cakesicle until fully coated.
  8. Place on parchment paper and allow to set.
  9. Melt red candy melts with coconut oil.
  10. Using a spoon, flick or drizzle over the cakesicles to create a splattered blood effect.
  11. Let set completely before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cakesicles are completely cooled before crumbling to avoid excess moisture.
  • For a more intense red color, use oil-based red food coloring with the white candy melts.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
