- 6 large croissants (day-old works best), torn into large chunks
- 225 g (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for freshness)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, halved
- 1 cup fresh raspberries
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup blackberries (optional)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange torn croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
- In a bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Stir in milk, heavy cream, vanilla, and lemon zest.
- Pour custard mixture evenly over croissants, gently pressing down to soak.
- Scatter fresh berries evenly over the top.
- Lightly press some into the croissants, leaving some on top for presentation.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 20–25 minutes, until golden brown and custard is set.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
- Garnish with mint leaves for a fresh touch.
