- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 medium apples (peeled, diced)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup flour
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
- ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Set aside.
- In a skillet, melt butter, then add apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for 5 minutes until tender and caramelized. Cool slightly.
- Combine flour, brown sugar, and butter with fingers until crumbly. Stir in nuts if using.
- Punch down dough and divide into 10–12 pieces.
- Flatten each piece and place a spoonful of cheesecake filling and apples inside. Gather dough around filling and pinch to seal. Place seam-side down on a baking sheet. Top with crumble mixture.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake buns for 22–25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm buns.

- Feel free to use any type of apples you prefer.
- For a richer flavor, add more cinnamon to the apple layer.
